Voi reports 83 percent reduction in emissions intensity since 2019

23 June 2026

Shared micromobility operator Voi says it has reduced its emissions intensity by 83 percent since 2019, reaching parity with public transport and private pedal bikes on a per-passenger-kilometre basis.

The figures are published in the company’s latest Impact Report and come as Voi continues to expand its operations across Europe. According to the report, the reduction has been driven by improvements in vehicle longevity, circularity and operational efficiency.

Voi says extending vehicle lifespan has been central to lowering emissions. The company reports that its latest vehicle generations are designed for longer service lives through maintenance, refurbishment and component replacement programmes. It also states that 97 percent of batteries remain within its circular system through reuse, repair, refurbishment or redeployment.

The report highlights broader efforts to reduce environmental impact through vehicle design, battery management and operational improvements as the company scales.

Fredrik Hjelm, co-founder and CEO of Voi, said the industry is entering a new phase of development.

“Micromobility has moved from experiment to infrastructure,” he said.

Hjelm added that the focus now is on ensuring growth translates into measurable benefits for cities while continuing to reduce environmental impacts. “The question is no longer whether shared micromobility works,” he said. “The question is how we make it work better, for more people, with less environmental impact.”
