Lime unveils new e-bike to attract more cyclists
Shared e-bike operator Lime has begun rolling out a new generation of vehicles across UK cities, as part of efforts to make cycling more accessible.
The new model will be introduced from March 2026, starting in Oxford and Milton Keynes, with further deployments planned in London, Nottingham and the West Midlands. The rollout comes amid continued growth in cycling across the UK, alongside increasing use of shared e-bikes in urban transport networks.
While cycling levels have risen in recent years, participation remains uneven across demographic groups, with lower uptake among women and older people. Lime said the new model has been developed in response to feedback from these groups, with the aim of reducing barriers linked to confidence, comfort and ease of use.
Design changes such as a lower frame, improved stability and simplified user interface are intended to make shared e-bikes easier to use for a broader range of riders.
“We’ve designed this model to be more inclusive, more intuitive, and more adaptable,” said Jon Jenkins, Chief Technology Officer at Lime. “So whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or getting back into cycling for the first time in years, you can jump on a Lime and feel confident to get where you need to go.”
The operator is also testing additional features, including rear cargo storage in Oxford, to support more everyday journeys such as shopping and commuting.
