Dublin (Ireland)

Dublin is Ireland’s capital and largest city, with over 1.4 million people in the wider metropolitan area. Like many modern urban centres, the city faces challenges including congestion, increased competitive demand on kerbside space, and the need for low-carbon transport solutions. The Dublin City Transport Plan provides a strategic framework to address these issues, guiding policy and investment in sustainable travel, active mobility, and shared transport options.
Micromobility in Dublin is well developed. It includes bike share schemes such as dublinbikes, Bleeper, and Moby, which offer both push and e-bikes, as well as cargo bikes for businesses, non-profits, and the wider community. From Q4 2025, over 300 secure bike bunkers will be installed across the city, supporting safe cycling and reducing reliance on private cars. Emerging shared mobility services, supported through data-driven projects, further aim to improve air quality and create safer, more accessible streets for pedestrians and cyclists. Dublin’s approach combines infrastructure investment, data-driven planning, and community engagement to support a sustainable and equitable urban transport system.
